October 26, 2007. As it has done for the past several years, PEP is
preparing briefing papers on issues to be debated at the upcoming annual
diocesan convention. The convention is being held this year in Johnstown, Pa.,
on November 2 and 3. The briefing papers, still under development at this time,
will be posted to the PEP Web site here, along
with relevant diocesan documents. PEP uses the mechanism of briefing papers to
offer analysis, often complex analysis, of issues before convention. We believe
that this provides a significant service to convention decision-makers, who may
not always have time to investigate and analyze the issues on their own.
PEP will be holding a briefing session for convention deputies and other
interested leaders, such as vestry members, on October 28. The meeting will be
held at St. Andrew’s, Highland Park, at 7:00 PM. Attendees will have an
opportunity to pick up copies of PEP materials and to discuss resolutions,
elections, and other convention-related issues. All interested parties, and
particularly those committed to a healthy Episcopal Church diocese in
Pittsburgh, are urged to attend.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church is located at 5801 Hampton St., Pittsburgh, PA
15206. A map and directions to the church can be found
here.
