May 12, 2006. Joan Gundersen, PEP president and founding member of Via Media USA, has challenged the Rev. David C. Anderson, president of the American Anglican Council, on the truthfulness of an AAC publication. In a letter to Anderson, Gundersen tells him either to prove allegations about Via Media USA in the second edition of the brochure “Equipping the Saints: A Crisis Resource for Anglican Laity” or to withdraw the publication.

According to Gundersen, “Equipping the Saints” attributes theological views to Via Media USA (representing “Revisionist/Progressive ‘Christianity’” according to the brochure—note the quotation marks around “Christianity”), even though the alliance (of which PEP is a member) has never expressed any explicit theology. Moreover, Gundersen charges that the AAC deliberately confuses Via Media USA with the Via Media curriculum produced and distributed by Every Voice Network, which has no connection to Via Media USA or its alliance members.

To date, no response has been forthcoming from Canon Anderson.
